King Kamehameha IV Cloak Returns to Palace: The Daughters will soon be unveiling the full-length ‘o‘o (yellow) and ‘i‘iwi (red) feather cloak of Alexander Liholiho, King Kamehameha IV, in a ceremony at the Palace on Saturday, February 9th, at 1:30 PM. Hawaiian protocol will be used for the occasion under the direction of renowned Kumu Hula Kaha‘i Topolinski. The event is open to the public, with light refreshments to follow the ceremony. Historic Preservation Awareness Day at the Capitol: Regent Gerry Miyamoto and Executive Director David Scott will represent The Daughters of Hawai'i at the Historic Preservation Awareness Day at the Capitol from 11 am to 3 pm on the 3rd floor lanai areas. The event is co-sponsored by the Heritage Caucus and Historic Hawai'i Foundation. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. The purpose of the event is to demonstrate the importance of historic preservation to the state's economy and long-term community well-being. Daughters and cousins in attendance are asked to wear whites and appropriate lei.
